Do you know the difference between TRAINING and CERTIFICATIONS?
The “State of the Art” of structured certifications for individuals needs to embody some fundamental pillars: standardization, traceability, credibility, impartiality, equal accessibility to those who meet the requirements, ongoing updates, and continuous improvement.
And do you know why TRAININGS THAT ISSUES A CERTIFICATE cannot be equated with a professional certification, as it should be?
If the school that provides training has as its “core business” selling courses, it only “certifies” those who take its “courses”: The principle of equal accessibility is broken.
If the “core business” is selling courses, establishing a commercial relationship with students around this “core” sold as a “certification”: The principle of impartiality is at risk – not approving/certifying could “displease” the client.
If there is no control and double-checking of certification records by an entity that does not “train”: The principles of traceability and, once again, impartiality are broken – the training entity would admit procedural flaws and displease the client by not issuing the “certification”.
When the process is static, “rigid,” or “lifelong”: There are no guarantees of ongoing updates and improvements to preserve the effectiveness and VALUE of the “seal” earned over time.
